La Cruz
La Cruz is a small hilltop town located some 20 Km away from the Costa
Rica and Nicaragua Border. It is situated on the Santa Elena Peninsula,
in the Guanacaste Province. La Cruz is the ideal place to go when
you want to experience nature up close and personal. It is within
a few miles away from the Santa Rosa National Park, which is known
for its beautiful beaches with sea turtles nesting on shore. Santa
Rosa National Park is also home to the famous surfing point Witch’s
Rock. Being the first National Park to be built in Costa Rica it is
also an important part of the country’s history.
La Cruz is also a great starting point when visiting Costa Rica for
an adventurous holiday. It is the gateway to Bahia Salinas, known
to be the second best place to go surfing and kite boarding. Although
La Cruz is a small rural town you will find your stay here very pleasant.
It offers you the peace and quite you desire when on holiday. There
are various nice markets in La Cruz where you can buy fresh fruits
and vegetables as well arts craft and other hand made articles.
From La Cruz you can also head out to the small fishing village Puerto
Soley. It is here that you can go on a boat tour to the National Refuge
for Forest Fauna on Isla Bolanos. There you will find over 200 pairs
of brown pelicans and beautiful flora and more fauna. It is a breath
taking experience you don’t want to miss!
