The Hotel Praha was originally designed as a facility for the needs of government and opened in 1981. At that time, the hotel had to be self-contained unit, so that the guests did not have to leave the hotel complex at all. To comply with this requirement, an enormous background had to be built and many special provisions made. For example, all the rooms are exceptionally spacious. A large park surrounds the hotel building to provide privacy. There was no question of any outsider being allowed to enter the garden area, not to mention entering the hotel itself. So, how does the hotel's past influence the present? Even though it looks peculiar, the somewhat gloomy prestige has turned out to be a certain attraction. It's no wonder that guests want to get at least a hint of what used to be an exclusive gathering point of the former communist elite.
