| Description |
In 1990, the present owners purchased the Hotel Phénix, which includes three connecting buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. The refurbished hotel, with its Florentine architectural design, is elegant, refined and superbly decorated, brilliantly blending the property's heritage with modern necessities upon which we have come to depend. It has 36 bedrooms, conference facilities, an arched entrance hall, 18th century fireplaces, paneling and historic columns, which have been restored and classified. A private garage, in itself a rarity in Old Lyon, is available. The capital of Gaul under the Roman Empire and a major center of culture and trade during the Renaissance, Lyon is now included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. From the Roman city of Lugdunum to the city of today, two millenniums have left their architectural marks on the city. The trade fairs gave Old Lyon all the color and style of Italy. Mesmerizing passages, alleyways and staircases still define this area of the city. |
