The Caldera View Hotel is a three star establishment located on the island of Santorini, nestled between the traditional settlements of Akrotiri and Megalochori. Santorini (Thera), the southernmost island of the Greek Cyclades, is situated on the rim of a volcano that last erupted around 1600 BC. In this violent explosion of ash and lava, the sophisticated city of Akrotiri was buried and tidal waves destroyed many of the surrounding island settlements. Many still believe that the story of Akrotiri is in fact the origin of the myth of Atlantis. The Caldera View resort has the advantage of being only 8 minutes away from the town of Fira (6km), and is convenient to the famous southern beaches of the island, to Akrotiri with its ancient ruins, and to Santorini's unique "Red Beach".
