Angels Camp
The City of Angels… this is probably the best way to
describe Angels Camp in California.
Named after Henry Angel, a shopkeeper from Rhode Island, Angels Camp
is a favored tourist destination in California. It is located on the
scenic Golden Chain Highway 49 near Highway 49 near Highway 4 east
of Stockton, California.
One interesting fact known about Angels Camp is that allegedly Mark
Twain based his story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras
County" one a story heard at the Angels Hotel. This event is
commemorated with a Jumping Frog Jubilee held every May at the Calaveras
County Fairgrounds.
The people here are the Angels of the city and will treat you well.
