The Lighthouse Inn Resort is a classy hotel strategically located in a pleasant neighborhood on the south shore of New London, Connecticut. Situated just 10 miles away from the Groton-New London Airport, this Mediterranean-style mansion is an American classic. In 1902, steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers, which surrounded it. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York, designed the 4.5-acre grounds. Meadow Court became a focal point for social events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
Since 1927, this magnificent estate has been home to the Lighthouse Inn Resort. The resort has completed a total restoration to all guest rooms and public areas. Completely restored, the property has earned wide acclaim for perpetuating the opulence of a landmark mansion.
